“Former Ishikawa Silk Mill Western-style Building
” was built in the Taisho era (1912-1926) as a guest house for foreign merchants invited by Ishikawa-gumi Silk Manufacturing, one of the leading silk manufacturing companies in Japan from the Taisho to the beginning of the Showa era.
Currently, as a nationally registered tangible cultural property, it is open to the public mainly on Saturdays and Sundays from March to November every year (see website for details).
It is also famous as a filming location for movies, TV and music videos, and many productions have been shot here.
