JOHNSON TOWN
After World War II, Johnson Town was one of the areas where many U.S. soldiers stationed at the U.S. Army Johnson Air Base (former Army Air Academy/present-day Air Self-Defense Force Iruma Air Base) lived.
The one-story houses called “U.S. Army House” and modern low-rise houses called “Heisei House” built at that time dot the area, creating a unique townscape that can be described as a “house culture” of a blend of Japanese and Western styles.
