Sayama Hills – Saitama Green Forest Museum

Sayama Hills are said to be one of the models for the setting of the animated movie “My Neighbor Totoro. Taking advantage of the nature of the hills, Saitama Green Forest Museum has been established as a base for observing a variety of plants and animals. The area offers a varied satoyama landscape, including rice paddies and wetlands in Nishikubo that utilize spring water from the hills, and wooded areas consisting of konara oak and sawtooth oak that bear acorns.
